Rain Shortens Racing Program

A great night of racing action at Oakshade Raceway was cut short Saturday night when some heavy storms rolled through the area shortly after the American Late Model Series consolation races.

Cans From Race Fans set a record for the amount of canned food items donated before any of the cars hit the track. Numerous prizes were awarded to many who donated, but more prizes are still be given away. Those remaining prizes will be given away in two weeks (August 18).

All UMP Late Model and UMP Sportsman heat events were completed, but just after the start of UMP Bomber heat number one, a rain shower moved over the track causing a delay in the racing action. Cars remained on the track during the shower and eventually got the track back in racing condition. A few more races were completed including the two UMP Late Model consi’s before the skies opened up once again. This time, the downpour would cause the postponement of the rest of the night’s racing action.

Double features will be run on Saturday, August 11 for the UMP Sportsmen, Hornets and UMP Sport Compacts in addition to the previously scheduled full show with the M&K Metals Bomber Bash. The UMP Bombers will have double features the following week, Saturday, August 18. The night for double features for the UMP Late Models will be determined after discussions with UMP officials and will be posted as soon as it is determined. No rainchecks will be honored.
