WAUSEON, OH – Saturday’s Season Champion/Trick or Treat Night at Oakshade Raceway was cut short due to persistent rain showers.

Light rain began falling during the UMP Late Model heat races. The precipitation was light enough that it did not initially affect the racing on the track as the heat races continued. Finally, during the fourth Bomber heat event, the rain began to fall a bit heavier which brought out the yellow flag due to the slick track conditions it created.

Cars remained on track under yellow to attempt to keep the track from becoming too saturated. During the break in the racing action, the Trick or Treat festivities went on with a long line of children walking along the front of the grandstands collecting candy. As soon as the candy bags were full, the track seemed ready to go back racing.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other ideas. As soon as Bomber heat four went back green, the skies opened up once more and after two more laps, the event was halted once again.

A huge night of racing that includes double features is now scheduled for Saturday, September 11. The Season Championship Night program will be completed in addition to a full racing program that includes UMP Late Models, UMP Sportsman, Bombers and Compacts. As of press time, gates are scheduled to open at 4pm with hot laps at 6pm and racing at 7pm. Start times may be adjusted to accommodate for the extra racing.
